WDO Member Meeting 2019

During the annual Duchenne Conference organized by Parent Project Onlus that takes place in Rome on Feb 15-17, the World Duchenne Organization hosts a meeting on scientific training for the member patient organizations.  

Goal

The main aim of the WDO Member Meeting 2019 is to gather patient organizations, scientists, researchers and experts working in the Duchenne field to share and build on each other’s knowledge to create innovative ideas and practical development experience.

Scientific Training on Drug Development

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Annemieke Aartsma-Rus and Prof. Dr. Nathalie Goemans will host two mini-masterclasses on preclinical and clinical drug development. The following discussion will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Eugenio Mercuri. Following the mini-masterclasses, Dr. Jarod Wong will give a presentation on endocrinology and bone health.

Importance of Patient Data in Duchenne

In the afternoon, companies will join the meeting to attend several presentations considering the collection and sharing of patient data by Pat Furlong of PPMD USA and Elizabeth Vroom from WDO. In addition to the updates on the clinical developments, Dr. Ir. Joan Lobo Prat will provide an update on technological developments considering assistive and rehabilitation devices.
